Nerve Injuries Causes
- General causes: metabolic diseases, collagen diseases, malignancies, endogenous or exogenous toxins, thermal chemical ofr mechanical trauma.
- Local cause: 40% of bone and joint injuries
Nerve Injuries Type
Primary: injury to peripheral nerve resulting from same trauma of injured bone.
Secondary: due to involve of the nerve
in infection,scar, callus,etc.
INCIDENCE OF PERIPHERAL NERVE INJURIES
1.Radial nerve is commonly injured
2. Ulnar nerve 30 %
3. Median nerve 15%
4. Peroneal nerve
5. Lumbosacral plexus 3%
6. Tibial nerve

- Wrist drop- radial nerve injury
- Claw hand- ulnar nerve injury
- Foot drop- lateral popliteal nerve injury
- Ape thumb- median nerve injury
- Winging of scapula- thoracodorsal nerve injury
- Pointing index- median nerve injury
- Policeman tip- brachial plexus injury
Nerve Injuries Physiotherapy Measures
- Splinting of limbs
- Passive movements of all joints are done to prevent contracture
- Massage ,exercises, stimulation
- Care of skin: especially the anaesthetic skin to prevent pressures sores
